Sue Wagstaff Garden Design
Garden design and implementation.
About me
I’m a Garden Designer based in Hertfordshire, working across Hertfordshire and Essex. I trained at Capel Manor College, where I gained my qualification in Garden and Landscape Design.
Before becoming a garden designer, I studied Fine Art and worked professionally as an artist, as well as teaching art in local schools and private classes for many years. My artistic background continues to influence the way I approach garden design, giving me a strong understanding of scale, colour, proportion, structure and visual texture.
I bring this creative perspective to every garden I design, combining thoughtful planning with a natural eye for how a space can look and feel.

What I offer
Tailored to Your Space
Every garden is unique, and I believe its design should be too.
I create each garden plan specifically for your property, taking into consideration the character of the space, soil type, aspect and how sunlight moves through the garden, as well as the surrounding landscape.
Most importantly, I work closely with you to understand how you want to use your garden — listening not only to what you would like, but also to what you don’t want. This allows me to create a practical, considered design that reflects your lifestyle and makes the most of your individual space.
I hand-draw all of my garden plans rather than using computer-aided design (CAD) software.
For me, this allows the design process to remain creative and flexible, rather than being constrained by rigid digital templates. Each plan is drawn from scratch with your particular garden in mind, resulting in a truly bespoke, hand-crafted design that is personal to you and your property.
